Land Morphology designed the transformative four-acre landscape for the McKinley Chalet Resort’s Ridge View Hotel in Alaska, creating restorative and engaging outdoor spaces. The site, reclaimed from a former asphalt parking lot, now seamlessly integrates into a spruce-covered slope, providing a natural buffer from surrounding roadways while offering a serene, immersive experience for guests.

Key features of the design include a raised walkway suspended through the trees, allowing for a tranquil and accessible journey to the building while enhancing connections to nature. The landscape prioritizes enhanced mountain views, the preservation of mature stands of trees, and the reduction of asphalt and gravel areas, all contributing to a sustainable and welcoming environment.

The project also includes a vibrant wildflower meadow, thoughtfully contoured berms, pedestrian paths and trail connections, strategically placed shuttle bus stops, and extensive native plantings. These elements combine to create a cohesive design that promotes well-being, improves accessibility, and fosters a deep connection with the surrounding environment.
