The Studio // Wakefield, RI

This award-winning garden, recognized by LUXE Magazine, envelops a charming 1920s clapboard home with a design that seamlessly blends traditional structure and industrial elements. Inspired by the English heritage of the clients, the concept of distinct garden rooms takes center stage. These include an entry court, a terrace with a fire feature, a woodland garden, a dining terrace, a formal garden featuring a lap pool flanked by two pavilions, and a sweeping lawn.

Architectural berms, richly planted for year-round interest, serve as dramatic focal points, while concrete and gabion walls create striking terraces, showcasing an industrial aesthetic. The garden's thoughtful hardscaping includes an arbor, which defines and enhances the intimacy of the fire feature area, and a pergola that anchors the dining terrace, extending gracefully across the lap pool to unify the two pavilions with unexpected verve.

The planting design pays homage to the clients’ English roots, weaving color and form into a romantic overlay that softens the bold architectural framework. Designed for enjoyment throughout all seasons, this garden merges timeless elegance with contemporary innovation.
